Orochi Unit 13 - Post-Incident Memory Containment.
Project 01, informally designated “Black House”, was established in 1999 as a long-form haemosemiotic experiment targeting site-bound trauma retention, designed to test the limits of resonance storage in both organic and inorganic structures. Subject KILLIAN, C.M., was selected based on psychological pliability, social isolation, and latent cognitive-channel potential. Her subsequent behavioural conditioning were fully managed through external influence channels (see file O13-ZAG/AQUA/72). The dwelling itself was enhanced with embedded sigil glyphs, timed exposure to frequency-based trauma stimuli, and passive observation by Unit 13 field assets from 1999-2005.
The experiment deployed the Black House as a semi-sealed psychosomatic loop environment. Trauma vectors—both induced and harvested—were recycled via architectural anchor points (e.g., chimney flue, cellar subspace) and biologically tethered to the Subject. Killian's emotional landscape was used as a natural amplifier, cultivated through managed social rejection, dream implantation, and minor paranormal exposure.
Data capture involved triad-band resonance mapping (AUR/VIT/MEM channels), conducted remotely via embedded microline sensors in the building's foundation and Killian's belongings. Secondary telemetry was handled by Containment Shed 13-B located off-site within Kingsmouth State Park. On-site containment was maintained via passive sigil arrays configured in a quincunx pattern, recalibrated every 88 days.
From 2001 onward, measurable psychic resonance spiked in accordance with external stimuli. Killian's affective signature consistently matched waveform predictions, allowing for clean spectral retention across all interior planes. Of note: by mid-2004, Subject exhibited signs of recursive perception—reporting sensations of “echoes,” “repeating conversations,” and references to “people already knowing what I'm about to say.” This was marked as phase-onset for loop instability.
Additional feedback anomalies included:
While valuable, this feedback profile indicated the experiment had exceeded intended containment parameters. Manifest energy began to exhibit bleed-through behaviour, affecting ambient local narrative consistency (e.g., inconsistent weather records, conflicting police logs, erased public records).
Phase Black involved engineered civil ignition: an emergent behaviour cascade designed to neutralise the narrative source under the guise of local superstition. Using legacy social influence vectors and deep-audio prompting broadcast from Shed 13-B, Orochi assets implanted night-echoes and repetitive guilt-patterns into key civilian targets with generational trauma proximity (e.g., longshoremen, law enforcement, Innsmouth faculty).
Distributed artefacts included:
At 21:57 on 3 April 2005, the mob organically formed and moved on the Black House. No Orochi personnel were physically present. The narrative cleanup was executed flawlessly, culminating in the desired narrative erasure and death of Subject KILLIAN. Unit 13 marked Phase Black as complete by 05:12 the following morning.
Initial assumption was complete wipe of echo field. However, in the weeks following, spontaneous narrative drift was observed across the Kingsmouth coastline. Fragments of Killian's imprint persisted in isolated echo zones—bedrooms, storm drains, discarded home videos.
Three Unit 13 agents involved in the post-burn inspection suffered partial memory collapse and semantic inversion. One attempted to broadcast internal containment footage via civilian channels. This attempt failed—but not before a single VHS copy was created and later rediscovered.
The footage—known internally as the “Lost Broadcast”—was never meant to survive. It features a voice (assumed to be Killian's) repeating a reset command: “The spiral remains.”
This anomaly continues to surface in memetic artefacts and has resisted full sanitisation.
While the narrative was largely scrubbed, secondary infection risk remains. The spiral remains.
